See ya’s Lata’!

6 Weeks; 4000km; 3 Blue bottle stings; 14 generous friends; 1 broken surf board; 50+ salt water nasal flushes; 0 sunburns (!); 20 meat pies; 5 excess leters of oil; ZERO snakes! A final G’Day from Aus. Bryn here. Wow. I can’t believe the first part of our trip is already over. Australia was absolutely incredible and exceeded our expectations so much that we have already planned  out our next trip. We might have to get a bit bigger rig next time, though, if we happen to have a couple bipedal land mammals by then. We are currently sitting at the Changi Airport in Singapore waiting for our flight to Bangkok, after a red eye flight from Brisbane. Needless to say we are a bit tired but I will do my best to summarize our last few days in Oz-land before we start the next journey. The majority of our time was spent in Byron Bay, Gold Coast, and Brisbane. We did our best to get in as much surfing and shark-buscuiting (body boarding) as we could before returning them to previous/new owners. ...

The Quest for Surf

Well hello, Mitchell here... Another week has come and gone and it saddens me to say that we only have 9 more epic days of Australia remaining.  Regardless, the good times keep rolling on and I’ll fill you in on last week: Bryn and I spent 3 nights in Port Macquarie, parked in the Foy’s carport. We rolled in early Saturday afternoon and made sure to swing by the Koala Hospital for the tour.  It was a very happy yet sad place to be, as the koalas we all saw were all ‘permanent care’ due to various things like blindness (due to chlamydia), amputations and brain injuries. They are all in good care and although peculiar creatures, koalas are undeniably adorable. I could tell you some cool facts about them but I encourage you to check it out and I’ll carry on... Candace, Mike, Connor and Katie Foy (former Creston BC residents) were very welcoming of us into their home and extraordinary hosts.  Candace and Katie met up with us in the CBD before convoy touring us around to...

Surfboards, Sydney, Sharks and still no Snakes!

Hello again, Bryn here. The procrastination to write this has been real. I mean, with such a busy life and all it’s hard to keep up (see an average day’s itinerary below). Since you heard from us last we have been slowly making our way up the east coast, taking time to see friends. Before we could reach them, though, we thought we should mix things up a little and accidentally drive over Mitch’s surfboard 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♂️. How did this happen you ask? Mitchell was super excited to catch some waves, and I wasn’t quite fully awake yet (it was early after a night sleeping by the highway). The board sleeps under the van at night to stay out of the way and the sun. I realized the mistake 3 seconds too late, translating into 3 days of looking for a new board or repair options. Thankfully we found someone in Ulladulla that could do it fairly quickly and at a decent price. His ‘workshop’ was more of a whiskey bottle recycling ground but we didn’t care, it needed to be done and he did a wonderful...
